Medical Officer

From FuturePath

The Medical Officer is a Ship Position. There are other ship positions that can be reviewed and can affect this position.

Description

The Medical Officer is responsible for the health and safety of the ship's crew. Their whole focus is on healing the officers and even stabilizing fallen comrades. They can also temporarily take the place of a Crew member switching ship positions without penalty.

Requirements: Must have at least 1 rank in the Treat Injury Skill.
Associated Ship Attribute: N/A
Officer Functions:
  1. Treat Injury: This is just the Treat Injury skill. Since its target is a fellow crew member, the normal rolling rules apply, not the 2d10 Spaceship alternate rules.
Advanced Officer Functions:
  1. Resuscitation/Life Support: If the correct Medical Bay or Facility is provided, then a Medic can attempt to move the recently decided character to the Medical Bay and resuscitate them. As long as the mass majority (90% or more) of the person's body is intact and they are not missing their brain. The resuscitation takes a standard action, and the move does as well. If successful, the Character is unconscious, has 1 HP, and has a Constitution Score of 1. Follow the Health and Injury rules for more information. They cannot be dead for more than 12 hours unless the Bay/Facility specifies otherwise.
  2. Long/Short Automated Care: If a Medical Bay or Facility is provided, then the Medic will move the Character into the Bay or Facility, where, they recieve automatically constant attention from the Medic. This qualifies as receiving constant Long/Short Term Care automatically successfully. For more rules regarding Care, review the Treat Injury skill.
