Professions
Below is a list of Occupations/Professions that Players can pick for their characters. This is for both role-playing purposes and determining Character wealth. Some professions have prerequisites that must be met before a character can choose them.
In order to fully understand Bonus Income and Credit Rating, please review the Wealth page.
Starting Professions
Professions can tell the Player what their Character's Starting Bonus Income, Average Monthly Income and Credit Score Range. They also provide suggestions on which Starter Packs to pick and any additional equipment a person at the starting level may have. The starting credit score is the lowest number in the Range. This can go up based on how many ranks the Character has in Profession.
Below are instructions for editing the Character sheet manually. Instructions on manually editing a character sheet are boxed. For example:
Use the Skill Profession located on the first page of the Character Sheet to the left to record the Character's Profession.
All new characters start out at the lowest credit score for the Profession in question. Adding ranks to the Profession skill can improve the Credit Rating to learn more. Review the Profession skill. These Professions are broad descriptions of what the Character may do or be trying to do and may not exactly fit the character's actual career. If a Character has a Profession/Career that is so far removed from anything in the list below, feel free to discuss with the GM about what their wealth/income/credit score should be. Keep in mind it will need to be relative to what is described below.
The Professions are also rated based on how wealthy they make the Character.
- Very Poor: Jobless, Student, Criminal
- Poor: Rural, Adventurer, Religious, Creative, Athlete, Spacer, Pioneer
- Independent: Military, Law Enforcement, Investigative, Emergency Services, Blue Collar, Technician, Cyber-Specialist
- Rich: Academic, White Collar, Mercenary, Entrepreneur, Diplomat
- Very Rich: Doctor, Dilettante, Celebrity
Most starting Professions have a prerequisite that the character must meet to qualify for the Profession. If they do not qualify, they can choose a different profession and change professions once they do qualify; however, they do not get the Starting Bonus Income.
