== STARTING OCCUPATION ==

A hero may hold other jobs as his or her career unfolds, but the benefits of a starting occupation are only applied once, at the time of character creation.

Many starting occupations have a prerequisite that the character must meet to qualify for the occupation. Each occupation provides a number of additional permanent class skills that the character can select from a list of choices. Once selected, a permanent class skill is always considered to be a class skill for the character. If the skill selected is already a class skill for the character, he or she also gains a one-time competence bonus for that skill.

Some starting occupations provide a Reputation bonus or a bonus feat (in addition to the two feats a 1st-level character already receives). A character still must meet any prerequisites for these bonus feats. Finally, a starting occupation increases the character’s Wealth bonus.

Choose one occupation from the available selections and apply the benefits to the character as noted in the occupation’s description.

Most starting Professions have a prerequisite that the character must meet to qualify for the Profession. If they do not qualify they can choose a different profession and change professions once they do qualify however they do not get the Starting Bonus Income.

Below is a list of Occupations/Professions that Players can pick for their characters. This is for both roll-playing purposes as well as determining Character wealth. Some professions have prerequisites that must be meet before a character can choose it as its profession.

In order to fully understand Bonus Income and Credit Rating please review the Wealth page.

Starting Professions

Professions can tell the Player what there Character's Starting Bonus Income, Average Monthly Income and Credit Score Range. They also provide suggestions as to which Starter Packs to pick and any additional equipment they may have on there a person at the starting level. Starting Credit Score is the lowest number in the Range. This can go up based on how many ranks the Character has in Profession.

Below you will see instructions on how to edit the Character sheet manually. Instructions on manually editing a character sheet are boxed. For example:

Use the Skill Profession located on the first page of the Character Sheet too the left to record the Character's Profession.

All new characters start out at the lowest credit score for the Profession in question. Adding ranks too the Profession skill can improve the Credit Rating to learn more review the Profession skill. These Professions are broad descriptions of what the Character may do or be trying to do and may not exactly fit the character's actual career. If a Character has a Profession/Career that is so far removed from anything in the below list feel free to discuss with the GM about what there wealth/income/credit score should be. Keep in mind it will need to be relative to what is described below.

The Professions are also rated based on a how wealthy they make the Character.
