This skill allows a character to build mechanical devices from scratch, including engines and engine parts, weapons, armor, and other gadgets. When building a mechanical device from scratch, the character describes the kind of device he or she wants to construct; then the Gamemaster decides if the device is simple, moderate, complex, or advanced compared to current technology.  A Player can find a list of possible items to construct in the [[General_Equipment]] page.

To attempt to identify a mechanical item a Character with [[Knowledge#Physical_Sciences|Physical Sciences]] Skill can preform a skill check with a DC of 10 to determine the item in question.
If the Player wants to build a mechanical device from scratch, the Player describes the kind of device he or she wants to construct; then the GM decides if the Player can even craft the item based on there Tech Level and then what the DC is, usually 10 or 15 + Procure Diff.  Otherwise there are plenty of useful items in the game that require the Mechanical crafting skill to make and/or repair.  


Either check only takes 1 min. If possible a Take 10 or Take 20 is an automatic success.

* A character without a Mechanical tool kit takes a –4 penalty on Craft (mechanical) checks.
* A character with the [[Builder]] feat gets a +2 bonus on all Craft (mechanical) checks.
