Below is a list of Occupations/Professions that Players can pick for their characters. This is for both roll-playing purposes as well as determining Character wealth. Some professions have prerequisites that must be meet before a character can choose it as its profession.

In order to fully understand Bonus Income and Credit Rating please review the Wealth page.

Starting Professions

Professions can tell the Player what there Character's Starting Bonus Income, Average Monthly Income and Credit Score Range. They also provide suggestions as to which Starter Packs too pick and any additional equipment they may have on there person at starting level.

All new characters start out at the lowest credit score for the Profession in question. Adding ranks too the Profession skill can improve the Credit Rating to learn more review the Profession skill.

The Professions are also rated based on a how wealthy they make the Character.

  1. Very Poor: Jobless, Student, Criminal
  2. Poor: Rural, Adventurer, Religious, Creative
  3. Independent: Military, Law Enforcement, Investigative, Emergency Services, Blue Collar
  4. Rich: Academic, White Collar, Technician, Entrepreneur
  5. Very Rich: Doctor, Dilettante, Celebrity

Some starting Professions have a prerequisite that the character must meet to qualify for the Profession. If they do not qualify they can choose a different profession and change professions once they do qualify however they do not get the Starting Bonus Income.

Choose one Profession from the available selections and apply the benefits to the character as noted in the Profession's description.

Academic

Academics include librarians, archaeologists, scholars, professors, teachers, and other education professionals.

  • Prerequisite: Age 23+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $12,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $4,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 8 - 12
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Official's Pack (without the Shepherd Chip) or Explorer's Pack
    • Additional common items: Book(s) (Non-fiction books on topic of interest)

Adventurer

Adventurers include professional daredevils, big-game hunters, relic hunters, explorers, extreme sports enthusiasts, field scientists, thrill-seekers, and others called to face danger for a variety of reasons.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $6,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $2,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 4 - 15
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Explorer's Pack or Outlaw's Pack.
    • Additional common items: Extra Rope/Duracable with Grappler Tag. Extra Rations(Tech 2) (5 day pack)

Athlete

Athletes include amateur athletes of Olympic quality and professional athletes of all types, including gymnasts, weight trainers, wrestlers, boxers, martial artists, swimmers, skaters, and those who engage in any type of competitive sport.

  • Prerequisite: Strength 13 or Dexterity 13.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $4,000
  • Average Monthly Income: #1,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 4 - 10
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Official's Pack
    • Additional common items: Rations(Tech 2) (5 day pack), Purifier, Rocket-X

Blue Collar

Blue collar occupations include factory work, food service jobs, construction, service industry jobs, taxi drivers, postal workers, and other jobs that are usually not considered to be desk jobs.

  • Prerequisite: Age 18+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $8,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $3,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 10 - 15
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Technician's Pack or Settler's Pack
    • Additional common items: Contractor's Field Bag, Clothing Outfit Uniform (worn) (For an old or current job)

Celebrity

A celebrity is anyone who, for whatever reason, has been thrust into the spotlight of the public eye. Actors, entertainers of all types, newscasters, radio and television personalities, and more fall under this starting occupation.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $24,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $8,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 15 - 20
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Official's Pack (with shepherd chip)
    • Additional common items: Booster(pick an ability to boost), Expensive Pen for signing autographs, Clothing Outfit Casual x2 (expensive), Outfit that includes face covering to protect against paparazzi.

Creative

The creative starting occupation covers artists of all types who fan their creative spark into a career. Illustrators, copywriters, cartoonists, graphic artists, novelists, magazine columnists, actors, sculptors, game designers, musicians, screenwriters, photographers, and web designers all fall under this occupation.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $8,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $2,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 4 - 14
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): N/A
    • Additional common items: Computation Device, Camera, pen/paper, books (digital and/or physical)

Criminal

This illicit starting occupation reveals a background from the wrong side of the law. This occupation includes con artists, burglars, thieves, crime family soldiers, gang members, bank robbers, and other types of career criminals.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $4,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $1,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 2 - 20*
    • NOTE: Credit Rating for a criminal only counts among other criminal's and banks that do secret dealings with them. At starting level most players not considered good Criminal's and must work there way up. The room for improvement is high but there are added ricks such as dealing with Law Enforcement or worse Tracers.

Dilettante

Dilettantes usually get their wealth from family holdings and trust funds. The typical dilettante has no job, few re­sponsibilities, and at least one driving passion that ­occupies his or her day. That passion might be a charity or philanthropic foundation, an ideal or cause worth fighting for, or a lust for living a fun and carefree existence.

  • Prerequisite: Age 18+.
  • Reputation Bonus Increase: +1.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $24,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $8,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 20
    • NOTE: A Dilettante cannot use ranks in there Profession skill to improve or recover there Credit Rating. They will eventually have pick a different profession if they want there ranks to improve the Credit Rating.

    • Additional common items: A.I Assistant Software, Booster, Polyvox

Doctor

A doctor can be a physician (general ­practitioner or specialist), a surgeon, or a psychiatrist.

  • Prerequisite: Age 25+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $18,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $6,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 17 - 23
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Doctor's Pack
    • Additional common items: Books (Digital/Physical) (On medicine), Clothing Outfit Uniform (worn) x2, Sporekill, Biocort x3.

Emergency Services

Rescue workers, firefighters, paramedics, hazardous material handlers, and emergency medical technicians fall under this category.

  • Prerequisite: Age 18+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $8,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $2,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 10 - 14
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Doctor's Pack or Settler's Pack
    • Additional common items: Clothing Outfit Uniform (worn) x2, First Aid Kit, Search-and-Rescue Kit, Purifier.

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs have an obsession about being their own boss. They believe in themselves, have an abundance of confidence, and the ability to acquire the funds necessary to bankroll their newest moneymaking venture. These small to large business owners have a knack for putting together business plans, gathering resources, and getting a new venture off the ground. They rarely want to stick around after the launch, however, as they prefer to put their energies into the next big thing.

  • Prerequisite: Age 18+.
  • NOTE: The Player should come up with a business idea the Character is currently trying to make work. This can change overtime but in order for the Credit rating to increase the Character must make successful strides toward this or another idea.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $12,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $4,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 4 - 20
  • NOTE: The Entrepreneur has to work there way up to become truly wealthy. They may have more money at the start but that is because they have taken out loans to start there own business. This means they have a much lower Credit rating at the start despite the higher income.

Jobless

Some people are just down on their luck. Or they are incapable of caring a job due to an disability. Or they are just lazy. Either the case most species will have civilizations now or in there history where people where poor and jobless. Some people may like the freedom but few enjoy the lack of comfort, security, stability wealthy can provide.

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Starting Bonus Income: $250
  • Average Monthly Income: $0
  • Credit Rating Range: 0
  • NOTE: The Character must pick a profession in order to loose this Profession and start getting Credit.

    • Additional common items: A cup to beg for money with, Clothing Outfit Casual (heavily worn) x2

Investigative

There are a number of jobs that fit within this occupation, including investigative reporters, photojournalists, private investigators, police detectives, criminologists, criminal profilers, espionage agents, and others who use their skills to gather evidence and analyze clues.

  • Prerequisite: Age 23+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $6,500
  • Average Monthly Income: $3,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 11 - 14
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Explorer's Pack or Settler's Pack
    • Additional common items: Evidence Kits, Handcuffs, Truthtell, Environment Scanner

Law Enforcement

Law enforcement personnel include uniformed police, state troopers, federal police, federal agents, SWAT team members, military police, and bounty hunters.

  • Prerequisite: Age 20+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $7,500
  • Average Monthly Income: $2,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 9 - 14
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Explorer's Pack or Settler's Pack
    • Additional common items: Evidence Kits, Handcuffs, Truthtell, Environment Scanner

Military

Military covers any of the branches of the armed forces, including army, navy, air force, and marines, as well as the various elite training units such as Seals, Rangers, and Special Forces.

  • Prerequisite: Age 18+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $8,500
  • Average Monthly Income: $2,250
  • Credit Rating Range: 9 - 14
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Explorer's Pack or Settler's Pack or Outlaw's Pack
    • Additional common items: Clothing Outfit Fatigues (1 worn, 1 good condition), Demolitions Kit, Ghillie Suit, Compass, Biocort

Religious

Ordained clergy of all persuasions, as well as theological scholars and experts on religious studies fall within the scope of this starting occupation.

  • Prerequisite: Age 23+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $6,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $1,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 5 - 10
  • Suggested Start Pack(s): Official's Pack, Settler's Pack

Rural

Farm workers, hunters, and others who make a living in rural communities fall under this category.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $6,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $1,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 7 - 11

Student

A student can be in high school, college, or graduate school. He or she could be in a seminary, a military school, or a private institution. A college-age student should also pick a major field of study.

  • Prerequisite: Age 15+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $3,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $500
  • Credit Rating Range: 1 - 4
  • NOTE: A Student can pick another Profession they wish to study for. Once they reach 4 credit rating through Rank improvements to the Profession skill they can automatically change there Profession to the one they have studied for regardless of prerequisites. They also change there Monthly Income and Credit Rating to whatever the new Profession is and transfer +3 Credit Rating. (They cannot pick the Dilettante)

Technician

Scientists and engineers of all types fit within the scope of this starting occupation.

  • Prerequisite: Age 23+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $16,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $4,000
  • Credit Rating Range: 10 - 15

White Collar

Office workers and desk jockeys, lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, bank personnel, financial advisers, tax preparers, clerks, sales personnel, real estate agents, and a variety of mid-level managers fall within the scope of this starting occupation.

  • Prerequisite: Age 23+.
  • Starting Bonus Income: $14,000
  • Average Monthly Income: $3,500
  • Credit Rating Range: 14 - 20
