Benefits: You can add your affinity die to rolls for repairing the ship in combat. The ship does have to have an Engineer station for this to work. The Chief Engineer can also use Advanced Officer Functions for that position.

Normal: Normally a Character cannot add their affinity die to rolls for repairing the ship while in combat. Also, they can only use Standard Officer Functions for that position.
